November 2018 Newsletter November is a time where we all remember to be thankful.  The Board would like to send a THANK YOU to everyone for helping out to make our craft show another great success for the band!  It would have been impossible without the generous donations of bake sale items, soda and most importantly your time! Lady's Gourmet Fundraiser was a great success! They even said we did extremely well for our first fundraiser with them! Delivery is on November 20th after school. Pickup times and locations are: 4:00-5:30 @ HHS Auditorium Lobby & 7-10pm @ Stardust during bowling Band Family Bowling Night is coming up on November 20th at Stardust Bowling in Dyer!  We hope that we can have all of our band families join us.  The final day for RSVP and pre-payment is Friday, November 16th.  Make sure to get your RSVP in.  If you are an adult and you wish to come and hang out with us but not bowl, we are requesting a $5 donation to help cover the cost of piz

Lady's Gourmet Popcorn Sales! Our Lady's Gourmet Popcorn sale continues through fall break until 10/31.  Please turn your envelope with your order form and money in to Mr Blocker no later than 10/31.  These are a great fundraiser for the band and your student.  Remember, each tub sold earns them $2 into their student accounts!  8 tubs = ISSMA Solo Fee is paid! Craft Fair Our fall craft fair is huge this year.  I've been turning away crafters for almost 2 months now because we are overfull with 105 crafters!  This is a HUGE fundraiser for the band.  To share the profit, we pay each student and family member that helps out, $2 per hour into the student accounts. September 2018 Newsletter  Highland Festival of Bands 9/15 @ 2:45 - Our 7th, 8th and HS non-marchers will kick off the festival with the National Anthem! We invite all band families to come out and support our Marching Trojan Pride! Complimentary entry passes will be emailed to parents and given to your students. Simply show the printed ticket or ticket on your phone for family entry. Band Activity Night 9/28 @ 5pm - Students will RSVP in class. Each student is asked to bring a plain white cotton t-shirt for tie-dying fun! We will have pizza, chips and soda. There will be games and other activities for the students to enjoy some fun and fellowship with other band members. Lady's Gourmet Popcorn We are working with Lady's Gourmet Popcorn in Griffith, for a fall fundraiser with delivery Tuesday, November 20th before our Thanksgiving holiday! Welcome back! Who are the Band Boosters? Quite simply, a band booster is you, the band parents.  You don the hat of cheerleader, fundraiser, water provider, seamstress, event planner, chaperones and/or pit crew.  We play many roles to support our bands.  We can't be successful without the help of you!  There is no fee, everyone is welcome! Welcome back to school band event! Friday, September 28 @ High School around 4pm.  Fun events for ALL band students.  Please keep an eye out for further info. Join us at Tailgate 8/24 5-7pm - First Marching Performance to follow during game.  Band will be selling Lemonade Shake-ups and have a lollipop pull.  Raffle Ticket Fundraiser is our first band fundraiser of the year. 

Marching Band 2018 Pre-Band Camp Updates!

A couple of updates from our Booster Meeting last week! 1. We will again be hosting a March-A-Thon !  All proceeds your child raises goes into their band accounts, which can be used to pay anything payable to the boosters!  You can start advertising now.  Each band & guard member should have their own pages! If you don't see your child's page, please let me know!  Send a personal message to friends and family asking for a donation.  Post your page to Facebook or other social media a couple times through the campaign. April 2018 Newsletter

Lots of things going on in the coming month!! Tonight! Friday, April 13th the High School Concert Band will perform at Hanover Central High School  ( 10120 W 133rd Ave, Cedar Lake, IN 46303) for ISSMA competition at 7:30 pm.  They could certainly use a cheering section.  Come on out and support our HS Concert Band. Booster Board Nominations/Voting Next Month We are looking for some fresh faces to help serve on our Booster Board.  The board meets monthly before the monthly booster meeting.  You can nominate yourself or someone you think would help our band program.  Submit your nominations before our next booster meeting, where we will vote.   Nominate someone today ! Band Banquet We will be hosting our annual Band Banquet on May 17th in the High School Cafeteria.  Invitations will mailed soon.  Cost is $10 per person (senior class students and children under 3 are free).  You can  RSVP  now. March 2018 Newsletter Mattress Fundraiser Our Mattress fundraiser is this weekend!!  Have you shared the event on Facebook ?  Invited your friends and family?  Remember, your child earns money for each sale they refer!  We would like a couple parents to hang out at the fundraiser in 2 hour shifts to represent the band.  We will deposit $5 for each shift you volunteer for into your student's account. February 2018 Newsletter Congrats to all of our students who performed at ISSMA Solo & Ensemble!  Everyone did a great job!  We'd like to give a special shout out to our HS Students who performed Group 1 and received a gold rating!  These five students are headed to the state competition in Indianapolis on February 24, 2018. Congrats to Logan Juran, Sierra Laviolette, Samantha Colbert, Jude Salanio and Phil Bock!!  Good Luck at state! Spring Craft & Vendor Fair This show is coming up soon and will be a huge fundraiser for the band!  We've already got 95 crafters and vendors signed up!  We had to open the aux gym in the middle school and will be full!  This is a one day only fair, Saturday March 10th.  There are a couple of places we could use your help. 1. Sign up to work the event.  We need parent help on both Friday during set-up and Saturday during the fair and to take things down.  We're using SignUp for this event.  Simply click the link to see our SignU

  January 2018 Newsletter Welcome to the new year!  We're hoping this to be a successful year for the Highland Bands! Thank You! Thank you to everyone who came out and bowled with us on our family bowling night!  It was a great success and we heard nothing but good things! We also want to thank everyone who came out and supported us at our "Fundraise Your Heart Out" dining out fundraiser at MOD Pizza! Lastly, thank you to all who helped chaperone at the concert.  Mr Blocker received compliments on how well our kids were behaving! Upcoming Dates At our January Booster Meeting we went over the plans for the rest of the school year.  We have a couple of dates which are not set in stone yet, namely a couple more dining out fundraisers and the century resources fundraiser.  Below is a list of the dates for you to mark on your calendar.  Also, we are looking to sent up a FansRaise fundraiser for you to raise funds to pay any band fees without selling anything!
