February 2018 Newsletter

Congrats to all of our students who performed at ISSMA Solo & Ensemble!  Everyone did a great job!  We'd like to give a special shout out to our HS Students who performed Group 1 and received a gold rating!  These five students are headed to the state competition in Indianapolis on February 24, 2018. Congrats to Logan Juran, Sierra Laviolette, Samantha Colbert, Jude Salanio and Phil Bock!!  Good Luck at state!

Spring Craft & Vendor Fair

This show is coming up soon and will be a huge fundraiser for the band!  We've already got 95 crafters and vendors signed up!  We had to open the aux gym in the middle school and will be full!  This is a one day only fair, Saturday March 10th.  There are a couple of places we could use your help.

1. Sign up to work the event.  We need parent help on both Friday during set-up and Saturday during the fair and to take things down.  We're using SignUp for this event.  Simply click the link to see our SignUp on SignUp.com: http://signup.com/go/qwaGLgf Review the jobs and times listed and Sign Up!  It's easy and you will not need to register or keep a password.  Sign-Up does send you an email so you can have an easy reminder!  For every hour you or your student works will earn them $2 into their student accounts.

2. Sign up to have a yard sign.  These will be going out by 2/25 and we will remove them Sunday, March 11th.  All you need to do is put your address on the list here: https://goo.gl/forms/OsgyRshU0cX0ChGX2

3. Volunteer to bring in items for our bake sale.  You do not need to individually wrap these items, we will take care of that!  You can bring them Friday during set-up from 6-8pm or Saturday after 7am.

4. Donate some soda and/or bottles of water.  A donation of one 12 pack of soda or one case of water greatly reduces the amount of money the band spends on concessions.  We have divided up the list of needs below based on grade and last name.

Mattress Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who attended the parent meeting!  We had 22 parents brave the weather to come out and find out more about this exciting opportunity!  The band has the potential to earn THOUSANDS of dollars!  The only thing we ask is that you SHARE the event!  You can share it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or simply hand out flyers!  Each mattress sold earns the band money.  Each mattress sold where your child refers the sale earns the child money!  They have the option of depositing that money into their student accounts or taking cash!  Make sure you come out to the High School on March 17th to check it out!

Spring Band Concert

We are looking for a couple parents to chaperone for the concert on March 22nd.  You WILL get to see your child perform!  Parent supervisors will be responsible for keeping kids silent during music performances and making sure kids move to/from the stage at the correct time.  If you are willing/able to help out, please sign up using the link: http://signup.com/go/wfAjJcW

Director's Comments:

We are exploring the possibility of a trip to Washington DC in the Spring of 2019 instead of a Marching trip to Disney in the Fall of 2019.  This would be open to all band students grade 7-12.  Is this something that would interest your child?  Cast your vote https://goo.gl/forms/0bDfCNtaWWndTT673

Join us for our next meeting, March 12, 2018 7 pm in the band room!
