Welcome to 2019!  We hope you've been enjoying it so far and that your band students have had a great start to their year and are ready for their ISSMA performances!

The next few weeks are a busy one for the band!

Upcoming Dates for Jan/Feb

1/26 - ISSMA Solo & Ensemble @ Wilbur Wright MS in Munster
2/7 - Pep Band: MS Night!  7-8th graders are invited to join our HS band for pizza before the Pep performance @ 5pm.  Students will get an RSVP form via Google Classroom from Mr. Blocker.  We want to make sure we have enough pizza!
2/8 - Quarterly Band Fun Night - Pizza & Movie Night @ 6pm.  Students will get an RSVP and will vote on the movie we will watch!
2/11 - Booster Meeting followed immediately by a mandatory Marching & Disney 2019 meeting!

Marching 2019

Now is the time for your 7th-HS student to consider if they are going to march for our 2019 season.  We will be holding a mandatory meeting after our booster meeting on Feb 11th, 2019.  We will be handing out marching contracts and Disney paperwork for those who wish to go.

Scrip

We will be kicking off Scrip on Feb 11th at the Booster Meeting.  Stephanie Waldron graciously is setting this up and will give us a overview on how to use it and how we can help raise money for the band and for our kid's accounts from our Smart Phones while we are dining out or shopping!

Student Accounts

Student accounts have been updated in Charms including deductions for ISSMA.  Mr. Blocker has also posted updated student account balances vs payments missing in the band room.  Just a reminder, each student who participates in certain Band fundraising activities earns a portion into their student account.  This system allows students to make withdrawals of their student accounts to pay for band related expenses such as ISSMA, SmartMusic, Instrument Cleaning Fees and Marching Fees. If you have questions please email us at HighlandBandBooster@gmail.com

Spring Craft Fair

Our spring craft fair is quick approaching! On March 9th we will fill the middle school with crafters for a one day only show!  This is a great opportunity to earn money in your student's accounts!  $2 per hour for each person working goes into your student's accounts.

We are also going to do class baskets for the raffle for the spring.  Be on the lookout for the theme for your student's grade!

Upcoming Fundraisers

We have 3 more fundraisers set for 2019.  Each of these are opportunities for your student to earn money for their accounts!

March 16th we will have our 2nd annual Mattress Fundraiser
April 8th will kick off Century Resources
In May we will have a raffle, with winners being pulled at our Band Banquet on May 20th!

Kankakee Valley ~ Competition Week

First all of THANK YOU to those that came out to support the band this past weekend at our festival. It was a success. Now onto this week it is pretty busy with the homecoming football game, competition and the dance. Below is from Mr. Blocker regarding the schedule for those events, Also we are still needing some help with feeding the kids and pit crew. Perfect time to help if your kid is wanting to go to homecoming you will need to be at the competition to pick your child up in order for your child to go to the dance. 2021 Marching Season is upon us

THIS WEEK IN MARCHING... All the things! Inbox Marching season is in full swing and competitions are just around the corner.  HIGHLAND MARCHING FESTIVAL - SEPT. 18TH This is a HUGE event  and we need all parent-hands-on-deck.
