Happy Summer Everyone!


My name is Jim Walker I graduated from Highland in 1981 and this year I am the secretary for the Highland Band Boosters. My son, Preston, is a Junior, plays trumpet and has been in marching band since 8th grade.  Last year I acted as VP of Events and I enjoyed it very much.

I hope everyone is having a great Summer. Marching Band Camp 2020 is under way with practices starting this week (an abbreviated outdoor only schedule). We are excited to get back into it this year.

We are reaching out to parents for any fundraising activities or events that we can try. Feel free to send ideas and hopefully we can fill in where we had to scrub off some of our old favorites. We do have ideas but are always looking for more. Keep in mind that all fundraising must follow guidelines for safety.

  • Mattress Sale (Warehouse in Valpo)

Kankakee Valley ~ Competition Week

First all of THANK YOU to those that came out to support the band this past weekend at our festival. It was a success. Now onto this week it is pretty busy with the homecoming football game, competition and the dance. Below is from Mr. Blocker regarding the schedule for those events, Also we are still needing some help with feeding the kids and pit crew. Perfect time to help if your kid is wanting to go to homecoming you will need to be at the competition to pick your child up in order for your child to go to the dance. Please see below for sign ups and how to get your kid for the dance. DONATIONS We're asking each Band family to donate 1 case of water. THIS WEEK IN MARCHING... All the things! Inbox Marching season is in full swing and competitions are just around the corner.  HIGHLAND MARCHING FESTIVAL - SEPT. 18TH This is a HUGE event  and we need all parent-hands-on-deck.
