Welcome to a new school year! The marching band has been practicing furiously for a few weeks, new faces are gracing the concert bands and we are looking forward to a fantastic school year!

If this is your first newsletter, welcome!  These are done on a monthly basis after our monthly Booster Meeting.

Who are the Band Boosters?

If you have a child in band, you can join our Band Boosters for free!  We meet the second Monday of each month in the Band Room.  Please join us!

Your Marching Trojan Pride!

The marching band has been working on their show for this year, which we are proud to announce is titled "Oceana".  The show includes an audience participation near the end... a sing-a-long!  Come out and watch the band perform their very first show tonight at the football game!

Also tonight is the annual tailgate before the game, from 5-7pm.  The Band Boosters will be shaking it up with some Lemon Shake-ups!  Come on out and support the band!

The marching band also needs help during performances!  If you can join the pit crew, please let the boosters or Mr. Blocker know.

Charms

Everyone has been set up with a Charms account for their child.  You can access charms by following the link: https://www.charmsoffice.com/charms/parents.asp?username=HighlandBandIndiana

The first time you login, you'll use your student's ID for the login and password.  We encourage everyone to log in, add parents as adults.  Update addresses, cell phone numbers (text alerts!) and email addresses.  If you have any questions, email the boosters and Trisha (our VP of Fundraising and Tech Support) will help you out!

Charms will allow us to keep information up to date on your child.  It will also allow you to make electronic payments and view your student account balance, which you can use to pay any band fees.  We're still working on getting the financial part set up, but please go out and update personal information.

Charms will also allow you to sign up for volunteer opportunities!  Check it out!

Marching Invitational


The Marching Trojan Pride is going to welcome 8 bands from neighboring schools to our field on September 16th, with the show starting at 12.  All band students 7-12 will be playing our National Anthem.  We'll need lots of helpers to ensure the success of the event.  Also, we'll be sending out flyers if you have a business that would like to advertise in the program.  The programs are handed out to every family that comes to the invitational.  That's hundreds of people who will see the ads!

Disney

We're still looking for about 4 large suitcases for the marching band to borrow to carry our uniforms to Disney in October.  If you can help out, please let us know.

We hope to see all parents at our next Booster Meeting, September 11th at 7pm in the band room!

Kankakee Valley ~ Competition Week

First all of THANK YOU to those that came out to support the band this past weekend at our festival. It was a success. Now onto this week it is pretty busy with the homecoming football game, competition and the dance. Below is from Mr. Blocker regarding the schedule for those events, Also we are still needing some help with feeding the kids and pit crew. Perfect time to help if your kid is wanting to go to homecoming you will need to be at the competition to pick your child up in order for your child to go to the dance.
