TWIB: School is almost here!

Band Camp finishes up this week!  Great Job to everyone! 

Method Books Needed for the School Year 

HS: Habits of A Successful Musician (Some 10th-12th graders may still have this)
8th Grade: Habits of a Successful Middle School Musician (NEW)
7th Grade: Sound Innovations Book 2 (Red)
6th Grade: Sound Innovations Book 1 (Blue) - Standard Edition

Helpful Tools for Band Students 

All students should have a tuner and metronome on their personal digital device.  Mr. Blocker recommends:
Tonal Energy - Tuner ($3.99)
Tempo - by Frozen Ape (Free Version)
Any Free Fingering Chart App - These are helpful for alternate fingers and trills.

SmartMusic 

SmartMusic has been updated and fixed for this year!  All Students will start with the $8 version.  If a student wants full access, there is an additional $20-$25.  Mr. Blocker will be sending home information about this.  At that time, you can send money, payable to Highland Band Boosters.  Please do not purchase or renew at home.  This is done at a school level by the band.

Large Suitcases Needed! 

The marching band needs to borrow 10 large suitcases for the trip to Disney in October. If you're able to loan one to the band, please let us know!

Next Booster Meeting 

The next booster meeting is next Monday, August 14th at 7pm in the band room. If your child is in band, please join us!

Kankakee Valley ~ Competition Week

First all of THANK YOU to those that came out to support the band this past weekend at our festival. It was a success. Now onto this week it is pretty busy with the homecoming football game, competition and the dance. Below is from Mr. Blocker regarding the schedule for those events, Also we are still needing some help with feeding the kids and pit crew. Perfect time to help if your kid is wanting to go to homecoming you will need to be at the competition to pick your child up in order for your child to go to the dance.
